A: Knowledge and understanding of the text or extract:
5-6
The commentary shows adequate knowledge and understanding of the text; comments are generally supported by references to the text.
I would put myself at a 5. This is mainly because I think I often understand the text myself, but I can't communicate it well, which is exactly what I did with my IOC practice. While I know I read and understand, I'm awful at illustrating it. My knowledge is generally supported by the text, but I could provide more clarity.
B: Understanding of the use and effects of literary features
3-4
There is some awareness of the use of literary features, with few references illustrating their effects on the reader.
I would put myself at a 4. I think my IOC focused way too much on how my evidence affected the plot, and not enough on the reader/audience. So for that reason, I don't think I had enough reference to the effects on the reader to get to a level 5. I would also say that I didn't clearly illustrate the literary features I was looking at. This goes back to my main problem of not illustrating my thoughts well.. oops.
C: Organization
4
The commentary is well organized; the structure is mostly coherent.
I would put myself at a 4. I think that I stayed organized (despite nerves) and maintained a relatively coherent structure. I think my transitions could be a little smoother and more clear, and that would help a lot. Other than that, I felt I did relatively well with organization.
D: Language
3
The language is mostly clear and appropriate, with an adequate degree of accuracy in grammar and sentence construction; the register and style are mostly appropriate to the commentary.
I would put myself at a 3. I think that I was appropriate for the most part, but I could have been just a little less conversational. I think I naturally have a hard time being more formal and end up resorting to being too conversational.. Awkward. For that reason I don't think I could put myself at a 4, so I think 3 is the most fitting category.
